Time for T
Huge apologies for my absence over the last few weeks but as you are all aware no doubt moving house is quite a stressful time especially on top of working full time hopefully some normality will return after this weekend to say we are both excited would be an understatement we plan a small housewarming soon
Sad to see corrie has axed the transvestite character (well they should have picked me in the first place lol)
Coronation Street bosses have axed Andrew Hall, who plays Audrey Roberts’ cross-dressing lover Marc Selby, after six months on the show.
The actor – who is best known for his portrayal of Russell in 1970s sitcom Butterflies – is being shown the door from the ITV1 soap after his storyline, which sees Andrew play a stiletto-wearing, gruff voiced, transvestite Marcia, has not gone down as well as expected.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘The plot hasn’t been for everyone but we’re glad we tackled the issue.’
There are a number of dramatic twists planned to portray Marc’s exit from Weatherfield, which are set to leave Audrey devastated.
Last month Coronation Street came under fire from art critic Brian Sewell in The Daily Mail for its number of gay, transexual and transvestite characters.
MORE SHOWBIZ NEWS
After scaling the heights, playing Shakespeare in his acclaimed one-man show at last year’s festival, this year Simon Callow descends into the depths in a lightweight drama where he stars as a transvestite who takes his dad shopping at Tesco on Tuesdays.
Callow is quite a sight. His billiard table legs project from sturdy heels and he wears his M&S skirt like a builder wears his trousers — cinched under his ample belly.
A blonde mop of a wig sits unhappily atop those proud features, and there is a smear of eye shadow beneath his manly brow.
You may also notice Simon Stokes’s production fails to create any sense of place. There is no check-out — only a hoop, within which is set an armchair and child’s dress, hanging from a dead tree. No, I don’t know either. There is much good-humoured laughter from the audience, but the problem is Callow treats Emmanuel Darley’s flimsy script as if it were penned by the Bard himself. The story is relayed with subtlety and sympathy, but Callow is like a pantomime dame, offering little sense of what makes his transvestite tick.
WHICH BRANCH OF TESCOS? LOL
IT’S LEEDS FIRST FRIDAY AGAIN NEXT WEEK
Yes it’s that time again Leeds first Friday the UK’s largest monthly gathering of the trans community
comes to Leeds for another fabulous first Friday event over the last few weeks more members of the trans community have been out and about round the bars a great sight for me and I’m so proud of how the gay quarter as we hope it will officially become has welcomed us all
Leeds
First Friday in the Month – Transgender Event
August was a great success with a fantastic turn out of over 160 people
attended again, probably now officially THE biggest monthly Transgender event
outside London.
FIBRE continues to be a great success and the feedback has been extremely
positive. Fibre will be providing a fantastic FREE BUFFET EVERY MONTH from
about 10PM. So you'll need to get there quick before it all goes - cos when
it's gone - it's gone!!
The night is loosely planned as such:
7pm - 8pm - Cosmopolitan hotel bar (for those who like to start early)
8pm - 9.00pm - Blayds Bar
9.00pm - 10.00pm - The Viaduct
10.00pm - 00.30 - FIBRE - Free Buffet available from 10pm!!
00.30 - 5am - The Loft @ Queens Court
ABOUT FIBRE: We have our own private bar, dance floor, seating and a balcony
for those who want to stand outside and for those who smoke. This is only for
LFF member and not for members of the public until midnight. We have negotiated
a rate for drinks to be reduced to £2 for LFF member only (the same as the Loft)
BLAYDES BAR is located in the centre of the gay area (Pink Triangle) on Lower
Briggate in Leeds. Lovely yard to stand outside and have a drink in summer.
There are many Trans friendly bars and clubs located very close by.
THE LOFT @ QUEENS COURT is just across the courtyard from Fibre! Very trans
friendly and the staff are very welcoming to everyone attending the LFF event:
•• 2 dance floors and 2 dance podiums for all you exhibitionists
• Separate bar and spacious seating area.
The Loft @ Queens Court have kindly offered us the use of the upstairs area for
those girls wishing to change for the event. Please contact myself, Rachel or
Queens Court directly for more information.
There is parking available at the nearby NCP car park on Boar Lane (entrance on
Swinegate) and street parking in Leeds is free from 6.00pm onwards
So come along meet people - make new friends and enjoy yourselves
The event usually starts at about 8.00 pm and afterwards many of the girls go
off to many of the other of the close by “watering holes” such as, the Viaduct,
Queens Court, and the Bridge, all trans friendly.
The Event continues to go from strength to strength every month - so here is a
BIG Thank You to everyone who supports LFF especially the bar owners and
also to those who promote the event on the internet
Hopefully
a new website will be built soon and we can grow even more hopefully this will
incorporate chat facilities etc. also ideas on forming our own online
retail outlet and a magazine are been considered to give the trans community
affordable online shopping options as it is felt by many that some of the
specialist trans online sites are too expensive and charge over the odds we are
aware not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to shop in public again this
is all in early planning stages but we will keep you posted on events
(This is a Social Event and is a meeting place for T-girls + their partners +
Admirers and friends - it is TOTALLY FREE and non-moneymaking Event.)
Thank you all for your continued support if you’re out next Friday and see the T-girls out say hello we don’t bite! Unless asked to lol xx
Love and kisses
