Life & Times of a Gay Man
Since been a young teenager (obviously not so long ago) I have been a fan of the soap opera Hollyoaks, I guess mainly because it does cater for a younger audience and tackles some very serious issues, or should I say used to! Recently as I've been watching I have been horrified at the way the program has changed so much so rapidly, Am I the only one to think that the acting in the program has become so shabby and now is almost like a really bad American comedy?
To give an example of how they have ruined a story line that could of tackled a really good issue, Brendan as we all know had relations with Steve but Brendan had never told anyone he was gay, maybe this was down to fear of rejection etc, so when everything came out last week and his Sister found out that he was gay the way it which it was dealt with was almost comedy like! This issue could of been approached and tackled in a much more professional and delicate way, yet the production team chose to make it into a laughing matter!
Also the acting in the show is so appalling that I have had to stop watching the show because it makes me cringe at how bad it is, maybe it's time that Channel 4 changed Hollyoaks from a soap opera into a slapstick comedy which I believe may be more apt for the way it is been aired lately.
