NADINE TWILITE COIL
This is the story of little cutie bear that is Nadine Twilite Coil aka Gary ‘Gazbear’ Connolly...
Where do I start on how the ever so loveable, cuddly and hairiest LadyBear ‘Nadine Twilite Coil’ came about to make you smile.
Back in May 2008 while on holiday at Gran Canarias - Maspalomas Pride, ‘Miss Twilite Zoned’ was born as part of the ‘Tena-Ladies holiday tour group’ basically a group of Gay Men and Lesbians who went on holiday together and needed to do something for the Pride march, so being ever so shy (yeah right) I decided to don a very loud outfit and wig, then we took to those streets with attitude in our steps.
However that was only me dipping my toe into the Drag waters, so to speak but sadly she had to be put into cryogenics upon my return to the UK.
Then sometime later when I was back home I noticed a poster for the ‘Drag Idol ‘ 2008 in Leeds, now at first I thought oh how exciting ‘Twilite’ can come back out to play, but then I thought oh it’s not just about dressing up and parading about!!! Eeck. However as it was about raising funds for a good cause I thought, what the hell let’s do it. So me being a little different I chose a very unusual number to do and being a lover of Disney I performed ‘Perfect isn’t Easy’ from ’Oliver & company’ (which I so love)
I really enjoyed myself that night and was happily pleased with what I had done to keep the audience entertained, seeing as I had never done anything like that before.
However ‘Miss Twilite’ went back into her cryogenic slumber never to be seen again (awwww I hear you say) until I met up with a few like minded friends, Kimbearly Clarke, Sarah Hardon, Ginger Roberts and Cheryl Hole in March 2009. From this encounter us girls with ‘Grrrology ‘and ‘Grrr Power’ came up with a fantastic idea, which created the ever so wonderful and heavily entertaining ‘Bears Aloud’.
Now ‘Bears Aloud’ have done so much this past year we have been around and there is so much to highlight (honest), like people we would like to thank for helping us get off the ground and our newest addition to the group ‘Miss Cheryl Seedy’ so that part of my story and my ‘Phat Sista’s’ will be continued in a later entry to ‘Queens of the Scene’ so stayed tuned for that one, it will be a good one.
As for me I loved being bestowed with the title of ‘Nadine Coil’ (do you get it Girls Aloud = Bears Aloud hehehe) and I couldn’t give up my Twilite name, so now I’m happily known as ‘Nadine Twilite Coil’ , there finally people will understand my Drag name. Hahaha
I have enjoyed my Drag journey so far, which included me hosting a few Party nights at Blayds Bar and I’m so looking forward to the future for me and my other Phat Sista’s in ‘Bears Aloud’. We have so much to entertain you with soon, i.e. Pink Picnic, Leeds Pride and a special ‘Bears Aloud’ evening coming your way in September at Blayds Bar, where you normally see us performing for your sheer delight. So huge grizzly hugs to all our LadyBear lovers.
