Miss Leeds is the girl who surprises the masses at The Viaduct Showbar with her impromptu performances and is always guaranteed to raise a smile or two.
In fact, it was after one of her many impromptu performances that Viaduct owner Michael Rothwell, asked her if she would like to entertain in drag on a slightly more official basis.
“When Michael asked me” said Miss Leeds “I was really happy, Darrell Hirst then took me shopping to buy my drag stuff, it was great.”
Darrell Hirst sadly passed away in 2011, Miss Leeds said: “I was gutted, I loved Darrell but he is still living on through The Viaduct.
“The Viaduct feels like my family” continued Miss Leeds “Michael is my dad, Susan [Platt] is my sister and Dickie is my brother. I love it and when I am performing in drag, I feel like a million dollars, I love that people know who I am.”
After spending many years collecting trolleys in the car parks of his local supermarkets, the role of Miss Leeds could not have been much further removed. “I feel very respected and cared about at The Viaduct” said Miss Leeds “the place is my home.”
Many at The Viaduct appear to appreciate the presence of Miss Leeds. Entertainment manager of the bar, Danny Cher Bailey said: “Miss Leeds loves to entertain and puts her heart and soul into everything. It’s great that she has somewhere great to go and be herself, it just shows that anyone can give it a go.”
General Manager, Timmy J Wright said: “Miss Leeds certainly has the fun-factor, she just loves to entertain.”
Miss Leeds said that she would like to be a mega-star and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Lily Savage and would love to meet and interview Shirley Bassey.
Miss Leeds certainly puts everything she has into her performances and let’s hope she continues to do so and as Miss Leeds says: “I might be a big girl but I can strut my stuff.”
