Carol Jiani is the latest sensation who is performing on the night of Leeds Pride 2010 on the 1st August.

How would you describe you?

I would say that in this moment in time in a very dark world that i am all about love and i want to use my gifts and share and unite all man .

You have been in the music business for many year's. What was your inspiration to begin such an amazing career?

I was always drawn to the arts and my dad introduced me to two amazing recording Artist's Millie Jackson, and Tina Turner from then on i wanted to become just like them. I loved the power of music and the joy it brought to all .

You have had many chart hitting singles. Which was your favourite?

I have to say that my favourite till today is the classic "Hit And Run Lover" that was the first hit and has kept me working till today 30yrs on i am so lucky and grateful .

Have you any plans to release anything else?

Yes i have so many singles being released this summer and also a High Energy Album and a House Album to please all the fans.

You have headlined many Prides across the world. Which has been the best?

I have headlined so many in my lifetime i would have to say that last year Germany was amazing. The best only because just over a year ago i did headline Pride in Miami at Miami Beach because it was the very first time there that Gay Pride was allowed. I also shared the stage with the amazing Pattie Labelle and the message was clear that all of mankind have the right to freedom.

Your 'I am what I am' at Berlin Pride was immense, how did it feel to do that?

It was amazing the lyrics are powerful we can all relate to those words we are all special unique in our own ways. The most amazing thing is that it has become an anthem and even in countries where people do not speak and understand English they understand this song that is the power of how music can unite us all.

You obviously enjoy Pride events. Why?

I do because all men & women must be treated equally it is a great cause. I want to remind the younger generation of the history of why we celebrate PRIDE. To remember The Stonewall Riots and i am glad to say that now other artist's are now talking about this as i keep reminding all about the history. Let us not forget there is still so much work to be done about 33 African countries Homosexuality is still illegal so we must continue to fight for the rights of all human beings this is why i must participate to bring awareness and raise funds for the great causes also.

Love and Respect Loyalty

Who are the other well konwn artists that you have performed with?

Pattie Labelle. Lime. Village People. Geroge Mc Crae. Gloria Gaynor. The late Dalida. So many to mention but my all time favourite have got to be the Original group Lime. They played on every single instrument on my classic "Hit and Run Lover" . And they gave us the classics remember "YOUR LOVE" GUILTY" "YOUR MY MAGICIAN"

Leeds is really pleased that you are performing at our Pride. Can you tell us why you wanted to come here?

I wanted to share in the celebrations and also continue the great works ahead and simply spreading the love and the fight to continue until all man are free. Remember the Malawi incident recently with the couple sentenced to jail but are now free. We still have to raise awareness because Love is the principle thing.

Anthing else you would like to add?

I would really like to say that as we continue to celebrate pride to please everyone remember why we celebrate this. This is not about the politics of show business it is about selecting those who are not afraid to speak out and raise awareness. They say knowledge is power let those artists who are always fighting the good cause be up front because we can teach man to love. Hate is taught so let those that are full of love up there spreading all love to mankind.
