Darrell...

Just over a week ago, one of Leeds most dedicated, committed and passionate advocates for the LGBT community collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

As many will now know, Darrell Hirst remains heavily sedated in Leeds General Infirmary and has severe bleeding to the left side of his brain.

Darrell’s close friend Michael Rothwell is keeping the community informed and providing updates on Darrell’s progress in the wake of a huge outpouring of concern and hope that Darrell recovers quickly.

It is a tribute to Darrell that so many have been so desperately worried about him. He does a tremendous amount for Leeds and is a genuinely caring and generous man. But, how everyone has pulled together in their united hope for Darrell, is also a tribute to what an amazing community we have and how valued its members are.

Darrell, thousands upon thousands of people have been praying for you and are desperately awaiting good news. The work that you do for Pride and for the scene as a whole is immense and you are in everyone’s hearts and minds as we all wish you a full and speedy recovery.
