Fibre - 168 Lower Briggate, Leeds LS1 6LY
Arguably the bar that kick started the regeneration of "The Calls" area of Leeds. Before Fibre opened their doors 7 years ago, this part of the city was pretty rundown. Not a gay bar per se, more of a cool place to drink and be seen, which in turn attracts a large number of gay clientele. There's a happy hour Mon-Fri 5-8pm which is very popular with the office crowd. On Thursdays through to Sundays, their resident DJs take over and turn Fibre into a mini nightclub with one of the best atmospheres we've ever experienced. They also serve food daily from 12-8pm. There's a covered smoking balcony and also a large outside courtyard that gets very busy during the summer months. We recommend you check out their website to see what's happening during your visit. Highly recommended!

The Viaduct - Lower Briggate, Leeds
Lively gay pub with no airs and graces. The infamous drag queen Annaglypta rules with her acidic tongue at the weekends. Cheap booze, pop music and a pool table. A hit with the lesbians of Leeds.

Queen's Court - 167-168 Lower Briggate, Leeds
The entrance is through the courtyard that it shares with Fibre. Gets very busy at the weekends with a real mix of gay folk. Their Monday nights "Pink Pounder" is legendary - nearly all branded drinks are just £1 each. They have a live DJ every night from 8pm playing a mixture of pop, camp n' cheesy to funky, anthems and basslines. That'll be everything then! The Loft nightclub is part of the same complex.

New Penny - Call Lane, Leeds
Reported to be the oldest gay pub in the UK and started off life as the Hope & Anchor in 1953. Changed it's name to the New Penny in 1982. In it's past, most major drag queens have performed here from Lily Savage to Sisters Slim. As drag became less popular, the bar evolved and even put in windows" Open 7 days a week, with chart, dance & camp tunes played most nights. They also hold regular themed and fancy dress nights. We still remember the days before it had windows and you had knock to enter through double doors.

Religion - 174 Lower Briggate, Leeds LS1 6DT
On the site of the former club Oslo. Opened it's doors in 2007. Very impressive interior with lots of glass and steel, including a reflective, glass dancefloor (so make sure you wear knickers!) Open plan toilets were all the talk, but now feel just a little bit unhygienic. A very swish VIP area with champagne fridge. Wonderful cocktails too! Plays host to a wide array of adventurous nights (not all have been immediately successful though) so we recommend that you check out their website for what's on. We always thought it was a shame that the DJ is stuck behind the bar and can't see the dancefloor though.

Very busy bar located right in the centre of the "gay quarter". Popular with all ages. They have hand-pulled beers, regular happy hour, video jukebox and the infamous karaoke nights every Thursday. Busy and unpretentious.

Xibit - 24-32 Bridge End, Leeds LS1 4DJ
Formerly known as The Base. As of February 2008, this venue has now ceased trading, blaming a huge increase in it's rent.

Old Red Lion - 2 Meadow Lane, Leeds
Old school boozer - think the Rovers Return circa 1970. No music played (or not loud enough that we could actually hear what it was). Dates back to the Georgian days (and so do their clientele someone cruel in the office said!).
