The Marriott Hotel
The Marriott Hotel is nicely tucked away in Trevelyan Square, just off Boar Lane and is no more than five minutes walk away from any of the gay bars and clubs in Leeds City Centre.
Opened in 1994 this hotel has everything that you would expect from a classic Marriott.
After spending the night there, Gay Leeds can comment as follows;
Check-in was incredibly simple, no waiting or filling out endless forms. It was just a quick detail confirmation, a swipe of the credit card and done. The man who checked us in, did seem a little confused as to why we, as a same-sex couple, had booked a room with a Queen Size bed and therefore, he offered us a room that contained 2 doubles instead.
Our room on the top of this six floor hotel was immaculately clean as were the sheets on our lovely, Queen-size bed. After raiding the fully stocked mini-bar and using the fabulous power shower, we headed out to the Viaduct, a journey, which on foot, took exactly 2 minutes.
We returned to the hotel for dinner and though a huge group had entered at the same time as us, there was no delay in our food being served. Our meal was delicious and there was a fine selection of wine. The service was impeccable and a woman called Nicola, who was our waitress, was friendly, professional and really went just that little bit further to ensure that our meal was enjoyable.
Luckily, as it was a hot night, all rooms are fully air-conditioned and the huge, flat screen television in our room was fantastic.
Breakfast again, offered great service though, when presenting ourselves at the dining area, I was asked my room number and then my partner was asked her room number, even though we were stood together, which is something that, as I observed, did not happen with heterosexual couples.
This 4 star hotel has 236 rooms and 8 suites and also has a health club with a reasonable sized pool for you to loosen your body in after a long journey.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Marriott and would highly recommend it to any visitors to Leeds.
